Jiu Si and Yu Ru recuperate with Mr. Zhou then head to Wangda to meet with Madam Gu. Yu Ru grapples with her mother’s death, but Jiu Si is there to support her. The Gu family is having a hard time setting up their shops as merchants from other cities have flooded Youzhou for the same purpose.
